The third-largest city in Hungary by area, Nyíregyháza has a population of approximately 120,000.
The city is known for its numerous tourist attractions, such as a thermal bath complex and aquapark, a zoo with a safari park, as well as a theater and several museums. Nyíregyháza is also home to one of the largest cathedrals in Hungary – the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas.
Various festivals and events take place in the city, including a folk music festival and an arts festival. Nyíregyháza is also an important educational center, with several higher education institutions, including the Slovak-Hungarian University and the University of Natural Sciences.
The surroundings of Nyíregyháza offer interesting places to visit as well, such as the Hortobágy National Park, known for its diverse bird species, and the picturesque Tisza Lake region, where visitors can enjoy water sports and observe wildlife.
