Pools in Miskolc
The pools in Miskolc are situated in the Tapolca Cave, which is part of a karst cave system. The Tapolca Cave is about 1,000 meters long and is one of the longest caves in Hungary. The interior of the cave is well-lit and decorated, creating a picturesque and relaxing atmosphere.
The pools carved inside the caves offer various types of thermal pools with different temperatures. The water in the pools comes from natural thermal springs, allowing visitors to benefit from its healing properties. The thermal water is rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and others, which positively impact health and well-being.
Gothic Church on Avas Hill
The Avas Church on Avas Hill in Miskolc is a true architectural gem and the oldest preserved building in the city center. Originally built in the 13th century as a small Romanesque church, it was later expanded into a three-nave hall church in the Gothic style, without a clearly separated chancel.
The church is surrounded by a cemetery where many notable townspeople are buried, including politicians Bertalan Szemerényi and László Palóczy, actors from the Latabár dynasty, and the father of poet Mihály Tompa.
