A historical and cultural heartland of Poland, located on an island in Lake Lednica, near Gniezno.

This site holds great significance in Polish history, as it was here in the 10th century that the first Polish state began to take shape under the rule of Mieszko I.

Ostrów Lednicki features numerous monuments related to Poland’s early history. The most important of these is the Castle on Ostrów Lednicki, the remains of a medieval fortified residence, as well as the Ruins of the Church of St. Vincent, dating back to the 10th century—one of the first churches ever built on Polish territory.

Also worth mentioning is the Museum of the First Piasts on Ostrów Lednicki, which presents the history of Poland during the reign of the Piast dynasty. The museum offers replicas of tools and furnishings from that era, as well as models of buildings tied to early Polish history.

Ostrów Lednicki is also an excellent place to relax, especially for lovers of nature and water sports. Lake Lednica hosts various water events, and visitors can enjoy kayaking, windsurfing, and sailing in a scenic and historically rich setting.
